What we protect

Home & farm protection, written for West Virginians, by West Virginians

Protect the home, protect the farm, and protect the family who depend on them. Here’s a look at what we write.

Important to know

Before you choose a policy

How our policies pay

We write Actual Cash Value policies

Every W.Va. Insurance Company policy is written on an Actual Cash Value (ACV) basis. A covered claim pays what your damaged property was worth at the time of the loss — the cost to repair or replace it, less depreciation for age and wear.

Your local agent is glad to walk through what that means for your home or farm.

Flood coverage

We do not offer flood insurance

Our policies do not cover flood damage, and we don’t write separate flood policies. Flood insurance is available through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), managed by FEMA.

New flood policies usually have a 30-day waiting period before they take effect, so don’t wait for the forecast.

Homeowners

Your house, your belongings, your peace of mind

  • The dwelling — your home and attached structures, repaired or rebuilt after a covered loss.
  • Other structures — detached garages, sheds, fences, and outbuildings.
  • Personal property — furniture, appliances, tools, and belongings inside the home.
  • Personal liability — protection if someone is injured on your property.
  • Additional living expenses — help with costs if you can’t stay in your home after a covered loss.

Farm & Ranch

Built by people who’ve worked the land

  • Barns & outbuildings — the structures that keep your operation running.
  • Farm equipment & machinery — tractors, implements, and the tools of the trade.
  • Livestock & farm personal property — coverage options for the animals and stock you depend on.
  • Hay, grain & stored crops — protection for what you’ve put up for the season.
  • Farm liability — protection against claims tied to your farming operation.

Property & Liability

Coverage for everything in between

  • Dwelling & rental property — coverage for homes you own and rent to others.
  • Seasonal & secondary homes — the cabin, camp, or second place.
  • Personal liability — protection for you and your family at home and away.

Coverages, limits, and availability vary by policy. This page is a general overview, not a contract. Your local agent can put together a policy that fits your home or farm.
